Tate Snyder Kimsey
Windom Kimsey’s 27-year career includes significant experience with a wide range of project types, including educational, judicial, aviation, and civic facilities. Windom oversees the planning and development of all Tate Snyder Kimsey projects and has received numerous awards for design excellence and commitment to the profession.
Since joining the firm in 1991, Windom has worked to enhance the quality and depth of the firm’s portfolio with projects that provide clients with exceptional design solutions. He has built a reputation for compelling, sensitive design, and has guided the firm to several prestigious honors, including AIA Nevada Firm of the Year (1996) and AIA Western Mountain Region Firm of the Year (1998).
Windom was a recipient of the AIA’s 1998 National Young Architects Award for Design and Leadership in the Profession and also received AIA Nevada’s Young Architects Citation in 1995. He received the AIA Nevada Service Award in 2002. In 2004 Windom was inducted into the AIA’s College of Fellows, an honor bestowed on only four Nevada Architects. He was awarded the AIA Nevada Silver Medal in 2007 and the Western Mountain Region Silver Medal in 2009.
Windom is a LEED-Accredited professional and is committed to the principles of sustainable design and the development of high performance buildings.
Windom’s design work has been featured in Architecture, Architecture Record, L’ARCA and World Architecture magazines. Throughout his career, Windom’s projects have been honored by the American Institute of Architects at the local, state, regional and national levels. In 2006, Windom’s innovative and environmentally responsive design for the Regional Animal Campus in Las Vegas was included as one of the AIA’s Top Ten Green Projects.
A supporter of public education and the arts, Windom has developed a children’s art program that has been successfully incorporated into several of the firm’s public buildings. The program, which pairs local elementary school children with designers to create unique public art features, has been incorporated into the design of the Mills Lane Justice Center and McCarran International Airport.
